| Provider Magazine Features Setting Realistic Expectations in Cover Story |
Provider Magazine, published monthly by the American Health Care Association, in its cover story on effectively managing risk reports that the video Setting Realistic Expectations is an excellent educational tool to achieve this goal.
Provider in its story Building A Foundation of Trust writes: "Long Term Care facilities may face $5.3 billion dollars in this year alone, according to date in a March study conducted by AON Risk Consultants."
The report focuses on what nursing homes can do to help manage risk through educating families about the day-to-day aspects of life in a nursing home, and why it is important for nursing homes to do this in order to cut down on the potential for future liability litigation.
Setting Realistic Expectations, the 16-minute video to help families gain a greater insight into the general level of care all nursing homes provide and why, is highlighted as a means to more effectively communicate with the families of residents.
The video, developed by Extended Care Products, Inc. is to be shown during the admissions process, then given to the family to share with other relatives and keep for future reference. It helps educate and inform, prevent future misunderstandings from the family towards the facility, and can reduce the possibility of lawsuits.
"We are honored that the American Health Care Association, a national voice for the nursing home profession, chose to include Setting Realistic Expectations, in this important cover story," says Chip Kessler, Extended Care Products, General Manager. "The AHCA and Provider are vital resources for helping nursing homes provide outstanding care and services in a prudent fashion. That the AHCA has seen the ability of our video to help educate and inform only serves to strengthen its place as a sound and practical tool to better work with the family."
