| Kansas Health Care Association; Several Major Healthcare Management Companies Endorse and Use Setting Realistic Expectations |
The Kansas Health Care Association, along with major health care management companies, ABCM Corporation, Americare, Athena Health Care Systems, Beverly Enterprises, Medicalodges, and NexCare Health Systems have endorsed the use of the nursing home family educational video program, Setting Realistic Expectations. The 15-minute video program was developed and produced by Extended Care Products, Inc.
"The strength of these nationally known nursing facility chains, and one of the leading state healthcare associations in the country speaks for itself," says Chip Kessler, Development Manager of Extended Care Products. "Thus, when you receive this type of endorsements, you are both humbled and gratified that these major players in the long-term care community have placed their stamp of approval on your efforts. We are also pleased that not only have these important nursing facility chains endorsed the video program, but have purchased copies for use in their nursing homes."
Setting Realistic Expectations is to be shown during the admissions process to families and responsible parties, then given to them to share with other relatives and keep for future reference. The video program educates about the general level of care provided in a nursing home, and to have reasonable expectations. With this knowledge comes a better relationship with nursing home staff, fewer misunderstandings, and a potential reduction in liability litigation.
