Extended Care Products Introduces Setting Realistic Expectations for Assisted Living Communities
Extended Care Products Inc., the leader in family educational programs has announced the availability of Setting Realistic Expectations for Assisted Living Communities. The 16-minute video/DVD is to be shown to families and responsible parties during the admissions process, then presented to them to share with other relatives and keep for future reference. The program is to educate on having reasonable expectations on the general level of care provided in an assisted living community. With this knowledge comes better communication, fewer misunderstandings, and a potential reduction in liability litigation. Setting Realistic Expectations for Assisted Living Communities is presented in the same straightforward, open and honest manner as its nursing home counterpart, Setting Realistic Expectations, a program that has been on the market since 2002. Over 19,000 copies of Setting Realistic Expectations have been sold to nursing homes in all 50 states. Several state health care and state nursing home associations, risk management companies, insurers, defense attorneys, administrators, directors of nursing, social workers and state ombudsmen have endorsed Setting Realistic Expectations.

Cost of the program is $29.95, with two or more at $14.95 each and 50+ programs at $13.95 each plus shipping/handling. There is also a suggested language document that comes with the program which can be included in an assisted living admission agreement, stating that the presentation has been watched and its contents understood as another layer of liability protection.

“We are pleased to now offer Setting Realistic Expectations for Assisted Living Communities,” says Chip Kessler, Extended Care Products Development Manager. “There are special challenges that go with offering care in the assisted living setting, and we are happy to make such an educational tool available.”
